The 2021 International Conference on Applied Science and Advanced Technology (iCASAT 2021) will be held on June 2 and 3 on virtual modality and is organized by graduate students of the Research Center for Applied Science and Advanced Technology of the National Polytechnic Institute (CICATA Querétaro) and by members of the SMM student chapter of CFATA (UNAM Juriquilla).

Research areas to be covered in this edition of the conference

Material processing and manufacturing

The objective in this area is to research, develop and adapt new technologies in the tribology, industrial processes and materials areas. In tribology we are interested in friction, wear, lubrication, industrial maintenance.

Alternative energies

The alternative energy area aims to help respond to the needs of society, at different scales, to the energy problem. The traditional sources of energy are coal, oil and natural gas, as fossil sources are found in limited quantities in the earth's crust.


The Biotechnology area carries out research and training of scientists at the Graduate level, in the fields of molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, microbiology, food chemistry and toxicology.

Mechatronics engineering & Robotic sciences

Its main purpose is the analysis and design of products and automated manufacturing processes. Researchers on this area work mainly on topics related to analysis and simulation, mechanism design, robotics, industrial processes, instrumentation, prototypes, and opto-mechatronics.

Image analysis & Artificial Intelligence

The image analysis area can be defined as the construction of algorithms for the extraction of information present in the images. It is an area where a wide variety of fundamental concepts need to be developed and important applications can be created..

Food engineering

The scientific, academic, and professional field that interprets and applies principles of engineering, science, and mathematics to food manufacturing and operations, including the processing, production, handling, storage, conservation, control, packaging and distribution of food products..
